Luka Chuppi Movie Review

Lukka Chuppi created roars before it's release as another B-Town movie that is going to be hilarious although for me it was a hit or miss. The movie takes you through the streets of Mathura. It is yet another small town story that aims to capitalize on the current trends(Stree, Bareilly Ki Barfi). The movie is about two characters who wish to live-in before getting married. The wish takes them for a roller coaster ride where they have to go through various awkward situations. For most of the parts, the movie stutters on producing genuine laughter. Although, at portions, there are some scenes that truly shines.

Screenplay & Writing: The movie has a decent length for an entertainer but saying that it won’t bore you would be undeniable. It has a couple of loo breaks all thanks to the ruckus because of the messy Screenplay. You often loose grasp over the movie as there are so many things happening in a single frame. The movie is made for the masses although the lousy writing stops it from reaching the levels of Stree or Bareilly Ki Barfi.

Star Performance: Kartik Aryan being the charmer he fails to put anything new on the table. I believe he has a great actor inside although it has started to feel pretentious. Kriti Sanon has been asked of looking beautiful and that is all. She has few scenes where you can see the performer in her but for most parts, she doesn’t even have an impact over you. In support, you are getting great actors like Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana, Vinay Pathak, and Atul Srivastava. When you have so many great actors in support, the film is bound to have expectations but no one really gets to your head. Although, I would commend the best efforts put by the star cast but underwritten characters can’t really get on you.

Direction: The movie after a while feels repetitive. Unlike movies like Badhaai Ho that focuses on subject and questions you, there is no such message on the movie. Director Laxman Utekar has made a couple of great flicks like Dear Zindagi and English Vinglish. Although, this one has been quite underplayed. Although, I don't blame the director that much as you can not generate a quality story with poor writing.

Final Verdict: If you are a fan of Kartik Aryan or Kriti Sanon then go watch this movie in theatres. It is a light-hearted comedy so don’t go inside with high expectations but it's surely not bad for a one time watch.
