With magnificent power comes big problems. Sonic the cute blue hedgehog is endowed with blazing speed, but he must keep going to stay active. In his journey to endure, he lands up in a tired American town called Green Hills. 

Here, he gains all the peace, serenity and anonymity he queries. But being amidst the people, Sonic wants to have friends, and this lands him in difficulty.

With a modest yet engaging plan, director Jeff Fowler benefits on the iconic sonic the hedgehog game character Sonic’s deception, quite well. Voiced to completion by Ben Schwartz, Sonic is an engaging and exciting role. 

Not only for his new and enhanced looks but also for his regular jibber-jabber that deliver in many laughs out loud times. His conversations are witty and bound with clean, modern entertainment that makes him immediately lovable. 

Another attractive character is the favourable neighbourhood county sheriff Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). James plays Tom with effortless grace. His love-hate equalisation with Sonic and their regular teasing is fun to see. 

In fact, their bromance is one of the highlights of the movie, and it happens quite naturally. Tom’s wife Maddie (Tika Sumpter) is absolutely supportive, notwithstanding almost less screen time. 

But it’s Jim Carrey as the goofy and unconventional Dr Robotnik, who goes all out, donning crisp ‘Men in Black’ kinda outfits and a handlebar beard. Carrey’s quite a howl as the evil villain who speaks to himself, doesn’t let others speak and parties like no one’s watching.
