Hey guys, Lalit Purohit here with some news related to netflix. The OTT giant has ended the password sharing facility in India from today onwards. Earlier, one person used to pay the bill or pay in sharing and then all the people used to use the same profile to access netflix. But now, Netflix has shocked its users by suddenly stopped the password sharing.

Now, only the person who paid the bill and the members of their household will be able to watch the Netflix with same account.

To inform the users, Netflix has started sending emails to announce the same. However, this was not unexpected because Netflix has done the same in many countries outside India. 

“Starting today, we will be sending this email to members who are sharing Netflix outside their household in India, The members can use Netflix at home, on the go, on holiday and take advantage of new features like Transfer Profile and Manage Access and Devices" this is what Netflix has said in an official statement.

The business is implementing very strict guidelines, such as the need for a verification number and the device should be connected to the home Wi-Fi network at least once a month in order to qualify as a home device.

Why Netflix Has Taken This Step ? 

This is very clear that the usage of a single account by so many people was a loss for Netflix as the subscriber base of the Netflix was not growing as they wanted.

Earlier in the month of May, Netflix has imposed same password restriction in more than 100 countries including like the United States, Britain, France, Germany, etc. and this crackdown helped Netflix to gain around 6 million subscribers globally.

What If Someone Outside Your Household Using Your Netflix Account?

You can easily check that who all are using your Netflix account by visiting privacy settings of your account and selecting the 'Manage access and devices' option.

If someone outside your household is using Netflix, the profile can be transferred. The outsider must transfer his/her profile to a new account (he/she will have to pay for that), and change his/her password.

Conclusion - 

This sudden and shocking step has been taken by Netflix to increase its subscriber base and revenue in India. Now, this could be a bad news for someone and a normal news for the people who never share their passwords with anyone.
