Lexus HoverBoard and the technology behind it

Lexus Hoverboard is the talk of the town. The hovering skateboard gives a glimpse of the future and the potential the technology of have. Yesterday, on August 4th, 2015 Lexus released a video of a few skaters skating on the Hoverboard which clearly gives the technology ‘implementation’ a 5 stars. Lets have a look of the official video:

Awesome, isn’t it? It is glittery, well furnished, well marketed and viral but as a matter of fact it is not the first in its type. About a year ago, Hendo Hoverboard has shown the potential of magnetic levitation. Here is the video of the Hendo Hoverboard:

Well, now let’s have a look behind the technology of the Hoverboard. The technology of the Hoverboard of Lexus works on the combination of superconductors, Liquid Nitrogen and permanent magnet. The superconductors are then stabilized with the flux pinning process which gives it balance and stability.

The superconductors are the metals with generally zero electrical resistance. THe superconductors, when cooled with the liquid Nitrogen, creates a phenomenon which forms an anti-magnetic field (generally known as Faraday’s Law of Induction).

The key principles used in the technology are:

1. Faraday law of Induction – According to the Faraday’s law of Induction a natural or artificial magnetic field when interacted with the electric circuit to produce an EMF (ElectroMotive Force) generally known as Electromagnetic Induction.

2. Meissner effect -

According to the Meissner effect, when a superconductor is cooled down below the critical temperature, the superconductor starts the expulsion of the magnetic field. In simple terms, magnetic levitation without the electrical current.

The artificial electromagnetic field formed repels the permanent magnet of the ground surface magnet and hence creating a levitating effect without electricity.

The phenomenon is basically the balanced and controlled form of the Superconductors magnetic levitation. However, the concept is brilliant and can be used for the future transport. It may be very expensive but it could be the door of the future.

Facebook Launched a new and lighter version : Facebook LITE

The addictive Facebook gives tigles and frustration when it does not open fast on a slow network. I mean how would it do so if companies in developing countries like India are on a continuous spree of stripping out more money for a less data and fast network (The worst part about pioneer companies in networking and communication in India).

Recently Facebook was in the news for its initiative which was taken in offense of Net Neutrality in India. This time Facebook is in news again, but for being on the brighter side. It is launching a low-resolution version of its Android app which has been specially designed in order to be more efficient on the clumsy and distorted network. The best part about this version would be that it would be lighter, smoother and would take less data than its earlier version. It currently holds a 4.3 rating.

How does this whole less data consumption happens?

Facebook lite, as a matter of fact do not present the things which you may be a bit interested in. In other words, you will be getting what you want to see and what you have subscribed to see. It would not show you a 'maybe' bit less important features like videos and nearby friend you can connect to, instead you will get only what you want to see in this amazing lite version.

Why should I download this version ?

Well, if you have a troubled network or over expensive and overpriced data service provider then go for this version. Also, if you are not interested in cute puppy videos or celebrity dubsmash videos then go for the app. Sometimes your smartphone is so sophisticated that in order to give more details to the information and images, it churns more data, so to avoid this, this app is your key to a much simpler 'The Facebook' version. Facebook Lite is designed specially for the developing countries.

How does Facebook uses less data?

The magic flows from the concept of uploading or downloading the high resolution images to highly compressed low resolution images.

It also makes a brilliant way of using further less image by never pre-preloading the full resolution image initially.

The main way Facebook makes the app use less data is by never pre-loading full-resolution images.

Photos and link preview thumbnails in the News Feed appear a bit of low end at first. But if you do want to view then just tap on it and enjoy the full resolution.

Why Facebook launched its Lite version?

There were three prime reasons for Facebook to do so.

See how light facebook is :fb4

1. To work on any Android phone, regardless of storage space, RAM, and CPU
2. To load fast even on 2G mobile connections and that is what 4 billion people on earth use even as of now.
3. To use as little data as possible as In 1GB data paln you can actually buy a 2GB pendrive in India.

It will roll out today in Asia, and come to parts of Latin America, Africa, and Europe in the coming weeks.

Thumbs up with Snapdeal.com !! 30% of Snapdeal sellers are now using mobile..

According to Senior Vice President (Product Management) of Snapdeal.com, Mr. Ankit Khanna, –

"We are continuously working on enriching the experience for our buyers and sellers. The Seller Zone App is one of our key initiatives for simplifying the process of listing products on our platform thereby facilitating sellers’ business operations. In the last 6 months, we have seen a higher rate of activity on the Seller Zone App vis-à-vis activity through the PC and we expect that 70% of our sellers will start using the mobile app actively in the coming 3 -4 months. Mobile is a vital contributor to the growth of ecommerce and we are creating life changing experiences for our sellers through newer apps on the mobile platform."

Snapdeal.com recently announced that a large number of sellers i.e. 30,000 out of a hundred thousand are now active users on Seller Zone app. It is in a way a user control panel for sellers of Snapdeal controlled by the thumb.yes

Seller Zone App is a management dashboard for the sellers of Snapdeal.com where sellers use to list their products online in order to sell them. According to Snapdeal ; The Seller Zone App is the " India’s first ever mobile managed online marketplace application for sellers to list products on Snapdeal.com."

Now the question arises as in what kind of use this whole application launched by Snapdeal is of use. Well, it is more or less like the kind of user friendly platform which ecommerce sites tries to pull for users to give a brilliant experience of shopping. With such a liquid listing experience, the sellers would be more interested in selling through such Snapdeal rather than a complicated portal. This ultimately results in more number of sellers listing more number of products which in turn gives a competition resulting in more discounts (and shoppers love it).

To sum it up, Snapdeal has an understanding of the importance of caring for the sellers who ultimately are an another form of its customers.
