The later actor played the titular role of a detective in the film Detective Byomkesh Bakshy. The movie is set in the vintage Calcutta of the 1940s. The mystery action thriller film directed by Dibakar Banerjee is based on the fictional detective Byomkesh Bakshi. Sushant brought to life the iconic Bengali character.

The film was released on 30 the September 2016 and became a critical and commercial success. It became one of the highest-grossing Bollywood movies of 2016 in India. The movie is based on the life of former Indian National cricket team captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Sushant plays a divorced middle-aged man living with his teenage son, an aspiring engineer.

Raghav jumps off the balcony after he doesn’t qualify for IIT in JEE advanced results. Watching his son oscillate between life and death, he begins to recount the tales of his time in college. Chhichhore was the final theatrical release of the late actor.
