Veg Pongal Recipe in 15-Minutes: The Best South Indian Breakfast Dish

You need Ingredients, like 1 cup Raw rice, ¼ cup Moong dal, 5 cups Water, Ginger chopped, 1 pinch Asafoetida, Ghee or Oil, Cumin seeds, and Curry leaves.

Step 1

First is to wash 1 cup Raw rice and ¼ cup Moong dal together. Take a small cooker and add 1 teaspoon of Ghee. Start frying Ginger chopped and Asafoetida.

Step 2

Boil 5 cups of water and then, add the washed rice, dal, Salt and pressure cook for 4 whistles in medium flame.

Step 3

Temper with all the items. Add 2 tablespoon Ghee, including 1 teaspoon Pepper. Switch off the flame. After this, add 8 Cashews and 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds. Fry it properly!

Step 4

Next is to put Curry leaves and ⅛ pinch Asafoetida. Mix it well and then, add it to pongal and mix well.

Step 5

Enjoy your Veg Pongal! Serve it with Coconut chutney.
