Aircel introduces free basic Internet scheme for new subscribers

Aircel – Indian leading telecom service provider has taken a stunning step to lure more customers using smartphones. Aircel, on Thursday, launched FREE basic Internet service for all new customers, which however comes with a price tag. It is claimed to be the first of its kind in India. According to Mr. Sankara Narayanan, Strategic Head, South, Aircel : “The product has been specially designed keeping in view the dramatic increase of mobile data users, for whom data usage is as much a part of their daily lives as voice calling, With this new product, Aircel subscribers will be able to browse and actively use with their favorite applications such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, besides accessing their daily need applications like banks and travel, paying of utility bills“.

What is the scheme?

According to the company, this package is available at a cost of Rs.144 for which a user will get 90 days of the free data with a fine speed of around 64kbps. However, there are limitations, a customer cannot access video streaming, video calling and online gaming etc.

Aircel has grown leaps and bounds while provide the reasonable rates for the customers and worked out as an alternative for costly network. The company is well equipped with the telecom infra with 7,000 cell towers, where 5,000 has already connected to 3G service.
This new product will allow users to have unlimited access to the internet and that too without any charge.

According to the company’s officials:

Aircel is targeting those 70 percent of customers, who were using Internet less than 10 days, which accounted for 66MB per month. The work for the 4G service is in progress and the service will be ready before the end of this year.
