Amazon India has launched the Amazon Pay UPI for Android users. Amazon has partnered with Axis Bank to issue UPI IDs to its customers to facilitate secure payments and financial transactions on its platform. It is an extension to the company’s Amazon Pay service for the customers in India. Now you can link your savings bank account to Amazon Pay UPI and start making payments on Amazon.in app and other third-party apps/websites that accept UPI.
Amazon Pay UPI service is currently available for Android users only. The service will be coming to iOS as well in the near future, the company says in a statement.
You can link your bank account and complete one-time set-up process by setting up a UPI pin to make instant payments. Every customer transaction using Amazon Pay UPI ID is secured through mobile device verification as well as with UPI pin.
Open Amazon.in App, tap Amazon Pay to open Amazon Pay dashboard.
Tap Payment Options. On the Manage Payment Options page, tap Manage Bank Account (check at the bottom of the page) and proceed to add a new bank account.
Tap Add bank Account Linked to UPI.
Choose your bank from the list. Note: Only an Indian Savings bank account is supported.
If you have multiple SIMs in your phone, it will ask you to select the SIM card associated with your bank account. Note: The mobile number in use must be same as the mobile number registered with your Savings bank account.
Tap Verify your mobile number. Note: You might need to allow Amazon to send an SMS and read it to verify your mobile number.
Post verification of your mobile number, your bank account details will be securely sought from the bank with the mobile number and the bank name you provided. Tap Link Bank Account to link it.
Verify your debit card details by entering last 6 digits of your debit card number and expiry date of your debit card. Tap Set your UPI PIN and follow the instructions to set your secure UPI PIN.
If you have an existing UPI PIN, you'll be asked to enter it.

Now with Amazon Pay UPI ID customers can shop on Amazon.in, make payments for their everyday needs including recharges and bill payments without going through a multi-layer process to pay from their bank account such as entering bank account or debit card credentials or OTPs. Customers just need to enter the fixed UPI pin and the transaction will be complete.
Amazon says this launch is a key step to enable Amazon customers in adopting BHIM UPI as a digital payment method, thereby helping the Indian government's initiative of "Cashless India".
Unified Payment Interface (UPI) is an initiative by the Government of India and developed by National Payments Corporation as an instant real-time payment system. Anyone who has registered for UPI can make online payments using their valid UPI ID
Amazon Pay is the online payments processing service owned by Amazon. Launched in 2007 to focus on giving users the option to pay with their Amazon accounts on external merchant websites. The service was launched in India in 2016 in a bid to increase cashless orders.
