Microsoft has announced its latest Windows a few months ago, however it made its launch date official a few days ago which is 29th July. The features of Windows are amazing and brilliant. Now, Microsoft is giving an offer where you can update your old Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 to the brand new Windows 10.

Lets see as in how you can do it : 

The free upgrade is available only for Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows Phone 8.1 devices. Since the Windows is launching on 29th July, 2015, hence you have to 'Reserve' your free upgrade. To reserve your update, download the Get Windows 10 App and click on reserve my update. Once you do so, Windows 10 will automatically download whenever available online. 

You can reserve your window by clicking on the icon like one in the picture.

Its Simple :

Click “Reserve your free upgrade” in the app window.

In case if you are wondering that whether you have been registered for the reservation or not, you can also get a confirmation mail on your mail box, for this you have to enter your mail in the app.

Even if you wish to cancel your reservation, you can do it whenever you want.

Is the whole update thing Free?

Yes, it is absolutely Free. This is a full version of Windows, not a trial or introductory version. It is available for a limited time:   you have one year from the time Windows 10 is available to take advantage of this offer.

What to do when I reserve?

When you reserve, you can confirm your device is compatible with Windows 10. Between reservation and when your upgrade is ready, the files you need for the upgrade will be downloaded to your PC to make the final installation go more quickly. Then, when your upgrade is ready after July 29, 2015, you get a notification that lets you get started with your upgrade.

What kind of System do I need?

The only requirements is that your device is compatible i.e. you’re running genuine Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or Windows 8.1 (Update).

How long does it take for installation?

About an hour is needed for the installation, however latest devices may only take 20 minutes. 

You’ll need to download the installation files before you begin. If you reserve, we’ll take care of downloading those files for you and let you know when you are ready to get started.

You only have until July 29, 2016 to take advantage of this offer. Once you upgrade, you have Windows 10 for free on that device.
