Hi all,

I wanted to ask which credit card is best at this time in india to go for. (With more rewards and less charges)
There should not be any joining/annual charges or can be minimal.

Guys please suggest me.

Also share which card you have and what good benefits are there.

I would suggest the new Reward Card from CitiBank ..great points on shopping / Otherwise ICICI is also good for some cool offers and payback points

I have experienced with so many credit card.
Currently I am using American Express Gold Credit Card and this looks best to card I have used till date (ICICI,SBI HSBC,CITI,Barclay etc).

In short term and for this year at-least AMEX Best things
- Each point is .33 paise(Standard taken Shoppers Stop GV of 500 for 1600 points) if registered under FTO(which they generally give most of time), For 100 Rs spent u will get 2 points i.e. .66 return on 100 Rs spend.
- First year is free no fees.
- Swipe 4 times (online or retail > 250 anyway we have 4 bills Electricity,Broadband,Mobile) and get 1000 points(330 Rs)
- 5x spends on Grocery (this changes and sometime they have weekend spends 5x), so if u buy @ Big Bazaar for 100 u will get 10 points = 3.3 rs back.

CITI REWARD Points marginally lost to HDFC Signature IMO
Lets compare with HDFC signature card

CITI REWARDS : Rs 125 = 1 point [ 1 point = .4 Rs on Shoppers Stop] Rs 100 =
HDFC SIGNATURE: Rs 150 = 2 point [ 1 point = .33 rs on SS GV]

Normalize the spending to Rs 100 to comapre
CITI :Rs 100 = .32
HDFC : Rs 100 = .44 Rs


Generally most cards has 5x offer sometime.

CITI's BEST part
- Pay by points, Most useful feature and I have used it on Shoppers Stop and Landmark and even online @ indiaplaza.in
- If in Calendar Quarter spend is > 1 Lakh get extra 1000 points
- Apparel buying from Citi Rewards card only because they have 10x !!!! so if u buy clothes from Pantaloons for Rs 2000 u will get 160 points = 64 Rs back !!


So its a matter , who gives best return on an outlet ..carry cards at risk and selectively use on basis of how much return u get.

For example I have both AMEX Gold and Citi rewards
- When buy Apparel I use Citi, 10x benefit
- When buy @ bigbazaar , I use AMEX , since 5x benefit.

So my first doubt is, When you say "5x spends on Grocery" so that applies to all normal retail stores/hyper markets or only bigbazar?

When u say "Apparel buying": does that mean only Pantaloons?
When you say "dining" does that apply to all the restaurants and dining places ??

All retails Big Bazzar,More,Spencer anything
Apparel also means anything Central, Pantallon, Allen Solly,Levis etc etc etc ..basically depends on VISA Merchant code...generally works at most cloths outlet

Dining I havent said but AMEX has offer and even Citi has offers too..

I would suggest to get CITI CARD from Snapdeal as their is deal and u will get instant 3500 points (Rs 1400) plus 250 SD Cash
